Allison Little, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist, specializing in providing both therapy and assessment services to children and adolescents. She provides individual therapy services to children, adolescents, and young adults, as well as family therapy. Dr. Little also provides psychological and psychoeducational evaluations.

Dr. Little believes that developing a collaborative and trusting relationship with clients is imperative to the therapeutic process. Her approach to therapy is individualized, focusing on the unique strengths and challenges of each client. Dr. Little utilizes an eclectic approach to therapy, often applying cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) interventions while also incorporating skills from solution-focused therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness practice, and additional modalities. Dr. Little has experience treating a variety of emotional and behavioral difficulties including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, self-harm, emotional dysregulation, trauma, ADHD, defiance, and anger issues. She also helps clients work through various adjustment issues and peer and family conflict, while improving stress management and coping skills. Dr. Little focuses on empowering her clients and developing realistic goals while working to challenge past maladaptive thoughts and develop more prosocial behaviors and problem-solving skills. She also has experience working with parents to improve communication and validation skills, use more effective discipline techniques, and develop helpful behavior management practices.

Dr. Little also provides psychological evaluation services and has significant experience conducting ADHD testing, Learning Disorder testing, Gifted testing, and Autism evaluations. She also provides IQ testing, Academic Achievement testing, and additional psychological testing with the intention of clarifying complex clinical presentations to inform effective treatment planning and care.
Dr. Little was born and raised in Connecticut and completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Stonehill College in Massachusetts. She went on to earn her master’s and doctorate (Psy.D.) degrees at the University of Hartford in Connecticut where she completed a specialization track in child and adolescent services. Her dissertation focused on the family reunification process for children in foster care, and she wrote a children’s book to help families navigate this often-challenging journey. Dr. Little completed an APA-accredited internship at the John L. Gildner Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents, a community-based, residential, clinical, and educational facility, located in Rockville, Maryland, which serves children and adolescents with severe emotional disabilities. Following graduation, Dr. Little completed her post-doctoral residency at a private practice in Texas before moving to Pennsylvania to continue her work. She is excited to now be settled down in North Carolina with her family.
When not working, Dr. Little enjoys spending time with her family, including her two young boys who always keep her busy, spending time with friends, hiking, and going to the beach. She is excited to explore all of North Carolina.
