Kymmalett Ross, Ph.D. is a postdoctoral fellow. She specializes in providing individual therapy, group therapy, and couples psychotherapy services to children, teenagers, adults, and families. In addition to child and adult assessment services, she also specializes in forensic assessment and completing court-ordered therapy and evaluations.

Dr. Ross lives by the motto “I can, and I will — Watch me,” and she applies this mindset when working with clients to be their best selves. She enjoys helping others achieve fulfillment and happiness through believing that regardless of what life has thrown their way, they can persevere through it. Dr. Ross enjoys providing treatment to children, teenagers, college students, adults, couples, and families. She has experience working with a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, relationship issues, behavioral concerns, suicidal ideation, self harm, adjustment difficulties, substance issues, self-esteem, and inappropriate sexual behaviors. Her overall goal is to build an effective therapeutic relationship that develops life-long skills, building upon an individual's strengths to adjust to life in today's society. Dr. Ross strives to provide a safe space to address developmental, behavioral, and emotional concerns that may be difficult for a family to manage on their own. Dr. Ross’ graduate training has provided her with extensive experience in working with clients from diverse multicultural backgrounds. These experiences taught her how to conceptualize clients’ presenting concerns holistically (e.g., severe psychopathology, personality disorders, multicultural contexts, familial situation, and vocational concerns), and develop treatment approaches that address clients from a psycho-social-biological approach. Dr. Ross also provides career and vocational counseling upon request.

Dr. Ross has extensive experience evaluating the psychological, behavioral, emotional, and personality function of children and adults and offers full psychological testing for children, teenagers, and adults. Dr. Ross also administers developmental testing, educational evaluations (e.g. I Q Testing, Intelligence Testing, ADHD Testing, Learning Disabilities Testing, Dyslexia Testing, Achievement Testing, Gifted Testing, Early Entry Kindergarten Readiness Testing), and evaluations to determine diagnostic impressions and treatment recommendations.
Social Skills Groups for Children and Teens, Cary & Raleigh
Dr. Ross provides group-based therapies, including social skills groups and social skills summer camps to address social concerns for preschoolers, elementary school children, middle school kids, high school teenagers, and young adults.
Court-Ordered Evaluations, & Forensic Assessments for Adults, North Raleigh & Cary NC
Dr. Ross can conduct court-ordered forensic evaluations (e.g., competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and violence risk) and court-ordered therapeutic services upon request. She completed her APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the Federal Correctional Complex-Butner, which provided her with the ability to assess severe psychopathology and gain knowledge about applying psychology to the legal system. During her internship, Dr. Ross completed rotations in residential sex offender treatment, forensic evaluation, correctional psychology, and residential substance use treatment.
Born in Eureka California, Dr. Ross has traveled all across the country to complete her training. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Austin Peay State University and was a student athlete competing in Track & Field. During this time, Dr. Ross was a registered behavior technician providing behavior analytic services to children, teens, and young adults. After completing her undergraduate education, Dr. Ross received her Masters Degree from the University of Central Missouri. She then traveled to Texas for her doctorate in philosophy in Counseling Psychology from Texas Tech University. Most recently, Dr. Ross completed her APA accredited internship and has joined Wynns Family Psychology as a post doctoral fellow working towards becoming a licensed psychologist in North Carolina. Dr. Ross has had the unique opportunity to gather a variety of training experiences while completing her graduate education, including helping individuals involved with the legal system. She has become well versed in psychotherapy and assessment services with children, teens, families, and adults. Her goal is to provide therapeutic intervention at a stage that is most amenable to change.
When not providing psychological services, Dr. Ross enjoys spending time with her two dogs, traveling with her family and friends, watching horror films, reading, and going to concerts.
