Dr. Melinda Rupard is a North Carolina Licensed Psychologist who works with children and adolescents with a variety of socioemotional and academic needs. She specializes in comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for children and adolescents, and in providing research-based intervention and support. Her goal is to empower children and families with a through understanding of strategies that best utilize their strengths, and with skills to support growth in targeted areas.

Dr. Rupard received her Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology from North Carolina State University and has served as a school-based psychologist in elementary, middle, and high schools for more than fifteen years. She has extensive experience delivering comprehensive psychoeducational services to students with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, conduct disorders, attention difficulty, traumatic brain injury, depression, anxiety and learning disabilities. Dr. Rupard’s approach to therapy includes cognitive-behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy, with a connection to mindfulness. Within the therapy process, she has experience with teaching emotional self-regulation skills, effective coping strategies, communication skills, behavior management, goal setting and attainment, problem-solving skills, conflict resolution, study skills, social skills, and mindfulness.

Dr. Rupard was born and raised in the piedmont area of North Carolina. She earned psychology degrees from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Wake Forest University, and North Carolina State University. Dr. Rupard has provided comprehensive psychoeducational services in the public-school systems of Johnston County and Wake County for more than 15 years. Dr. Rupard teaches psychology courses at the University of Maryland Global Campus and Purdue Global.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking and running, traveling, going to amusement parks, baking, completing puzzles, and reading.
