Helen specializes in providing child, tween, teen, young adult, and family therapy for a wide range of mental health challenges. Helen has extensive experience working with children and families of all backgrounds, experiences, and histories. Helen is passionate about creating a non-judgmental space for her clients to safely explore their emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and to process their experiences. She primarily uses solution-focused therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy and incorporates relevant examples and real-life strategies in her approaches. She believes that all people and their relationships have a unique story due to the intricate balance and strengths of various influences on each life and experience.

Helen provides group-based therapies, including social skills groups and social skills summer camps to address social concerns for preschoolers, elementary school children, middle school kids, high school teenagers, and young adults.
Helen earned her Bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University and her Master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before obtaining her license, Helen has spent more than 20 years working with children, adolescents, and families in a variety of educational and competitive-sports settings. Additionally, Helen has extensive expertise working in the school system and values the importance of educational success and the school-family partnership, especially with children and teens. Helen has dedicated her entire career to youth, young adults and their families; and truly feels that there are silver linings and lessons in every part of life - even through the most difficult of circumstances and situations. Helen loves meeting new teens and tweens because their futures are so malleable and impressionable - and the smallest of positive changes can make a tremendous impact on their journey through life.
Born and raised in Raleigh, NC, Helen didn’t venture far for her educational or life experiences because North Carolina has it all! Outside of work, Helen loves spending time outdoors, especially with her husband, two children, and her dog, Scooby Doo! An avid runner, Helen loves being outdoors, whether it’s a peaceful walk at the beach; sitting outside; or exploring a new place. She values getting outside and believes people are more at peace and in tune to themselves when they are tied to nature.
