Kasey Sulovski, LPA, received a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Appalachian State University. He has extensive experience in treating individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, substance misuse, and low self-esteem and assisting individuals in fostering effective coping mechanisms, sleep regulation, emotion regulation, and interpersonal skills.

Kasey provides the treatment of psychological disorders in adolescents, adults, and children in individual therapy, utilizing a positive and strengths-based lens. He employs components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (MCBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), among other modalities in order to assist individuals in fostering empowerment and self-perpetuated growth. His approach to therapy is to strive to be compassionate, genuine, and accepting while fostering a collaborative relationship with clients in order to help them attain their goals. Furthermore, Kasey believes not just in attenuating suffering, but helping clients in fostering adaptive thoughts and behaviors as well. He often utilizes mindfulness and identifying clients’ values in therapy in order to assist them, but he believes being flexible is imperative to meeting individualized needs. When working with younger children, Kasey takes on a team approach with the family; parents are included in learning skills with their children and are integrated in out-of-session practice. In addition, Kasey takes on a collaborative and behavioral approach to parenting. Kasey understands that therapy can be vulnerable, so he continuously strives to meet clients where they are in order for them to feel respected, accepted, and safe to create a space where they feel that change is feasible.

His therapeutic proficiency includes treating depression, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, specific phobias, panic disorder, substance misuse, ADHD, behavioral difficulties, and suicidal ideation as well as assisting clients in fostering sleep regulation, emotion regulation, and social and coping skills. His testing experience includes IQ testing, Learning Disability testing, and ADHD testing. Kasey typically utilizes mindfulness- and value-based interventions in his practice; however, he believes that flexibility is necessary to meet individualized goals in treatment. Kasey employs aspects of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (MCBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and other modalities in the treatment of psychological disorders and suffering. His goal in the therapeutic setting is to ensure that clients feel respected and understood while providing them with the assistance necessary to meet their goals and attain self-perpetuated and consistent growth. Given Kasey’s person-centered background, he believes that clients are the experts on their own experience; therefore, he strives to maintain a collaborative therapeutic relationship where he is genuine, empathetic, and accepting.
Kasey was trained as a generalist in order to treat a broad range of psychological disorders and suffering. He has a considerable amount of past experience working with children and adolescents in school-based settings. He completed his internship at the Assessment, Support, and Counseling (ASC) Center in Ashe and Alleghany counties in North Carolina, where he predominantly helped adolescents via school-based therapy in the treatment of anxiety and depression and management of suicidality. Additionally, while attaining his bachelor’s degree at University of North Carolina Wilmington, Kasey taught emotion regulation classes in public schools (K-3rd grade and high school) through Domestic Violence Shelter and Services, Inc’s outreach program. Kasey is still constantly striving to expand his scope of competency in order to assist as many people and families as possible
In his free time, Kasey enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends, running, mindfulness meditation, yoga, hiking and camping, learning and teaching self-defense, playing video games, writing, and watching cartoons. Kasey loves learning new skills and engaging in altruism, as he believes that consistent growth and selfless giving are key in working toward a meaningful life.
