9/24/2017 1:47:37 AM +00:00

Tonight I realized something with a giant thud in my heart. My kids never need (or want) me to read out loud to them anymore. The last book was read who knows when. But no one warned me to read slowly, savoring the snuggled bodies tucked in next to me, because it was the last […]

Teens get a bad rap

4/29/2017 11:38:41 PM +00:00

When you hear the word “bully,” what’s the first thing that comes to your mind?—A scene from The Karate Kid where Johnny and his merciless gang of Cobra Kai’s pummel the vulnerable “new kid,” Daniel?  Or do you think about tweens being emotionally and psychologically degraded through […]

Sibling Strife

8/20/2013 2:38:34 PM +00:00

“But she started it!,” comes the whine from the backseat. If these are familiar words (and I know they are), you’re not alone. Most parents have kids with at least one thing in common: sibling fighting. Unless your children are far apart in age (or they’re benevolent aliens from another planet), they’re going to fight. […]
